Charming and free-spirited, Remy LeBeau manipulates kinetic energy with unmatched skill. With a flick of his wrist, his charged playing cards become explosive projectiles for foes or heal allies through kinetic shifting. When the charismatic Gambit lights up the battlefield, he always plays to win!
Official Description
Gambit is a Strategist hero in Marvel Rivals and the 44th hero introduced to the game's roster during Season 5: Love is a Battlefield.
He currently has one team-up ability:
Explosive Entanglement — Anchor Hero for Magneto and Rogue
Overview
Strengths
- An agile resource-based support that can match damage output with healing output, utility and debuffs. In turn for long cooldowns, he can support his team by destroying enemy positioning and increase survival through cleansing negative effects.
- His kit revolves around his Sleight of Hand resource, which can be consumed to grant temporary passive bonuses, as well combined with different card inputs to activate empowerment abilities.
- Sleight of Hand has a total of four stacks that regenerates over-time.
- His primary fire, Kinetic Cards, throws a short spread of three projectiles that explode on contact, damaging enemies while healing allies.
- His secondary fire, Bayou Bash, creates an burst of energy in front of Gambit that damages enemies and heals allies within the blast radius.
- This ability has two charges and can self-heal, making it more effective to repel against flanking enemies.
- Cajun Charge is a basic short-distance dash forward that briefly enables Big Easy Impact when using Bayou Bash immediately after the dash.
- Big Easy Impact consumes a charge from Bayou Bash and causes Gambit to dash a longer distance, creating three small explosions that damage enemies and heal allies as he travels.
- This proves to be a solid mobility tool when backing up or escaping from fights, since it also has two charges.
- Big Easy Impact consumes a charge from Bayou Bash and causes Gambit to dash a longer distance, creating three small explosions that damage enemies and heal allies as he travels.
- Healing Hearts consumes a stack of Sleight of Hand to grant healing-over-time to self for 6 seconds, and enable either Bridge Boost [Flush] or Purifying Pick-Up [Raise] at the cost of another stack. Bridge Boost is great for healing sustain, while Purifying Pick-Up is an extremely powerful counter to stuns and debuffs.
- Bridge Boost launches a targeted healing projectile to an ally that bounces onto other nearby allies up to six times. It also amplifies healing received for 4 seconds.
- Purifying Pick-Up throws a swarm of projectiles all around Gambit that heal allies and cleanse negative effects upon impact. Allies can be purified up to two times per cast, while Gambit can only be affected once.
- Breaking Spades consumes a stack of Sleight of Hand to grant a damage boost to self for 6 seconds, and enable either Explosive Trick [Flush] or Bidding Barrage [Raise] at the cost of another stack. Explosive Trick can be used for its debuffs, while Bidding Barrage is great for driving back enemies.
- Explosive Trick launches an explosive projectile that inflicts healing reduction for 4 seconds upon impact.
- Bidding Barrage throws a spread of a total of ten explosive projectiles forward that also knock back enemies.
- Activating either a Flush Empowerment or Raise Empowerment ability will also reload all ammo for Kinetic Cards, allowing you to cycle between your rounds for increased efficiency in healing or damage output.
- His Ultimate, Ragin' Royal Flush, can be activated to target Gambit himself and allies within line of sight to summon aces at their position, providing an instant burst of healing and cleansing negative effects upon activation. While the aces are active, targets gain healing-over-time, 50% increased movement speed, increased jump height, deal additional bursts of 20% bonus damage to enemies upon hit, and allies charge their Ultimate 30% faster.
- The burst damage effect can be triggered through any ability and has a short interval between activations when landing a hit. It automatically deals damage to the hit target no matter what, proving it much stronger in combination with lingering area-of-effect abilities and high firing speed attacks.
Weaknesses
- High skill ceiling to manage cooldowns and resources.
- Each stack of Sleight of Hand has a 8 seconds cooldown to regenerate, and cannot be gained through any other methods besides passive recharge.
- Burning through Sleight of Hand charges forces the player to rely on their weakest form of healing and damage output.
- Kinetic Cards cannot deal critical hits.
- Cajun Charge has a very long cooldown that prevents Big Easy Impact from being effectively cycled; and while Bayou Bash has a short cooldown, the ability on its own has a very short range and does not provide enough sustain to always use it outside of the dash.

Strategy
- Gambit is a Strategist hero who frequently lives up to his namesake, offering an Ace for every situation with his limited but indisputably life-saving Deck Empowerments. When it comes to powerful bursts of utility Gambit quite literally holds all of the cards. With his ability to queue up two separate Deck buffs Gambit can improvise on the fly, his role fluctuating between a traditional healing Strategist and a dive Duelist. All of which topped off with a nuclear ultimate that can completely turn the tide of a match. If quickly placing bets to steal the advantage in short term scuffles appeals to you, Gambit is the man for the job.
- Kinetic Cards is the perfect encapsulation of Gambit's gameplay philosophy. A primary that sends out a three-shot spread of explosive cards, incentivizing Gambit to get up close and personal to make the most of its impressive healing and damage. While lacking the ability to land critical hits this primary can still achieve above average results from short to mid-range. Further enabling Gambit's role as a jack of all trades. Striking a balance between finishing off enemies and keeping allies alive is of the upmost importance when utilizing Kinetic Cards, since it has fairly low ammunition and an even longer reload time.
- This primary's spread gives it the ability to easily chip out fliers and consistently hit enemies that utilize hitbox manipulation to avoid attacks. Such as Jeff's Hide and Seek.
- It also holds a notable advantage against Duelist flank attempts on your team's backline, especially when facing more slippery Heroes like Spider-Man and Iron Fist. But can be less effective against dive-oriented Vanguards.
- Its consistency can make it a great option when rushing in with Big Easy Impact against more aggressive poke Duelists like Moon Knight. Especially if they are found out of position.
- Long range pestering can still be useful when paired with either Flush Empowerment. More on this quirk later when going over Deck Empowerments.
- Something to keep in mind with Kinetic Cards is that its shots can be angled to hit both the allies in front of you and the enemies past them. Make sure to use this trick whenever possible
- Gambit players should reload any time he is given the breathing room to do so. As running out of Kinetic Cards in the moment leaves him and his team open to counterattack.
- Weaving in melee attacks against low health enemies at close range can make a significant difference, especially considering the unique multi-hit property of his melee string.
- Bayou Bash is Gambit's go-to panic button that holds two charges. An AOE slam that can help to finish off enemies at close range and quickly regain chunks of health for Gambit and his allies. It also gains benefits from either deck buff, either supplementing Gambit's already potent self-sustain or securing eliminations. It is advisable to be somewhat reserved with its usage due to its punishing cooldown.
- This tool will see the most use when healing Gambit and another Strategist while out of cards. Giving him the time to fit in a reload.
- This is a strong opener after rushing in or away from the frontline with Cajun Charge and Big Easy Impact. Though it can be risky to burn both uses so quickly.
- Bayou Bash is counted as a melee attack and ignores shields.
- Do not use this midair, it will lock Gambit into the animation until he hits the ground.
- Cajun Charge is a short-range omnidirectional dash with two charges. It is a decent movement tool for making small adjustments to Gambit's positioning. Allowing him to stick close to his allies and enemies in a pinch. Also grants the Hero a degree of verticality for when Big Easy Impact is unnecessary. Though on average saving Cajun Charge uses for Big Easy Impact is a much better idea.
- Big Easy Impact is where Gambit's gameplay loop begins and ends. Allowing him to dive past his team's frontline or back into it for as long as he has a usage of Cajun Charge and Bayou Bash in reserve. Granting himself and allies healing while damaging enemies. This excellent movement option passes through enemies and is omnidirectional, allowing him a brief state of pseudo flight to get wherever he pleases. Just like with Bayou Bash, Big Easy Impacts benefits can reinforce either Deck Buff if active. Big Easy Impact is the first step in the card trick process. Quickly deciding between defense or offense according to his positioning and the current state of the match. This will be expanded upon in the next section on Deck Buffs and Deck Empowerments.
- Big Easy Impact excels at counter-dive, allowing Gambit to chase after retreating Duelists and grab eliminations.
- Big Easy Impact has similar properties to Bayou Bash, allowing it to rush through shields and Magneto's Meteor M to deal damage.
- Big Easy Impact is a tool that grants Gambit the freedom to take risks not present with any other Strategist. Speeding into team fights and scattering Deck Empowerments in a flash. As well as the ability to sometimes aid allies in their dive attempts. As long as a proper escape route is kept in mind.
- Always keep in mind when Big Easy Impact will deal enough damage to secure an elimination with and without Breaking Spades active. Its damage can be difficult to avoid for enemies.
- Gambits card tricks come in two phases, queueing one of two Deck Buffs and then following up with one of two corresponding Deck Empowerments. Each of which uses a charge of Sleight Of Hand. An incredibly powerful toolkit of abilities tied to a sparse resource. Once a Deck Buff starts it cannot be cancelled unless a Deck Empowerment is used. Reading the room and your current positioning to place a bet on which Buff Stance will net the most value is the most important Gambit skill.
- If holding an excess of Sleight Of Hand charges using and holding onto a Deck Buff until it depletes is not significantly punishing. The next Sleight Of Hand should be recharged by then.
- Healing Hearts is Gambit's defensive Deck Buff, passive regeneration that allows Gambit to patch up small amounts of damage or chip he may encounter. This will be the go to Deck Buff for when his team is on the back foot or when he wishes to reinforce a state of advantageous sustain attrition.
- Healing Hearts Flush Empowerment, Bridge Boost is a bouncing healing projectile that grants a duration of enhanced healing. A nuclear burst heal option similar to Adam Warlock's Avatar Life Stream. Though it inherits many of the same inconsistencies with who it heals and when. Ensure that the highest priority target is within lock on before firing. Throw this out when incoming damage on your team becomes unmanageable. Or in dire circumstances to cancel out sources of anti-heal.
- Bridge Boost has a decently far range, not requiring lock on to bounce off of walls to nearby allies, throwing a hail mary to point can make a huge difference when making the trip back from spawn.
- Bouncing Bridge Boost off of a wall close to Gambit will target him first, once again similar to Adam Warlock's healing method. This can be a great panic button for when Healing Hearts passive regeneration is not enough to survive a fight.
- Healing Hearts Raise Empowerment, Purifying Pick-Up is a sweep of healing explosions that can cleanse any status effect or form of cc. Using this tool to free one teammate from a single target stun effect like Luna Snow's Absolute Zero can be wasteful given the effectiveness of Bridge Boost. Though this can be a lifesaver when used against Ultimates that dish out widespread CC or debuffs. Just be certain to avoid those Ultimates yourself with Big Easy Impact beforehand.
- Some of the easiest status cleanses for Gambit are Angela's Heven's Retribution and Winter Soldier's Kraken Impact. Keep an eye out for these Heroes on the enemy team beforehand to assess whether you want to save Sleight Of Hand for them or not.
- Spider-Man's Spectacular Spin stun can be nullified with proper timing of Purifying Pick-Up. This timing method could theoretically allow Gambit to preemptively bail himself out of other CC effects.
- Breaking Spades is Gambit's offensive Deck Buff. Granting him a sizable damage increase to his Kinetic Cards and abilities for the duration. This buff will see more use in neutral while pestering enemies and any state where his team holds even the smallest advantage.
- Breaking Spades Flush Empowerment, Explosive Trick is a long range AOE that grants a noticeable chunk of damage alongside an Anti-Heal effect. This can finish off enemies chipped by Kinetic Cards at a distance and place low health Vanguards in a dangerous situation.
- Explosive Trick is fantastic against Heroes with strong self sustain like Cloak & Dagger and Luna Snow. As it cuts their regeneration by 1/4. Reinforce your advantage with Healing Hearts buff to seal the deal.
- Explosive Trick isn't very impactful against powerful healing Ultimates.
- It is very important to know that Anti-Heal effects do not stack. Instead replacing the current value with the new highest value. Meaning Gambit's Explosive Trick could see less use in a Team Composition alongside heroes with more powerful or consistent means of Anti-Heal, like Venom and Blade.
- Breaking Spades Raise Empowerment, Bidding Barrage is one of Gambits safest tools. Granting good damage and knockback in a spread around him. Dash in and use Bidding Barrage to scatter the enemy push. Use Bidding Barrage to finish off slippery dive Duelists and retreating Jeff's. Blast large shields with Bidding Barrage to take a significant portion of its healthpool. It is blunt, it is effective and there are very few situations where it doesn't immediately grant some form of advantage or randomly pick up an elimination amidst the chaos.
- Ragin' Royal Flush is the best Strategist Ultimate in the game. It grants healing over time, speed boost, jump boost, ultimate charge boost, cleanses status effects, and an effective damage boost in the form of extra delayed attacks to every strike. Where it is used matters little as it can target through walls, buffing everyone within line of sight in a cone. Backing up with Big Easy Impact beforehand to maximize its targeting is recommended. Once used, play fast and aggressive with Breaking Spades buff. You will want your teammates to follow suit. Aiming to get as many eliminations as possible before the buff ends. Use Big Easy Impact to evade attempts to eliminate you and cancel the buff.
- Aim to use this in combination with rapid hitting ultimates like Daredevil's Let The Devil Out and Blade's Thousand-Fold Slash.
- Gambit's Bidding Barrage, Big Easy Impact and melee attack string are granted a large damage increase through Ragin' Royal Flush by virtue of being multi-hit.
- The damage increase from Ragin' Royal Flush is not always enough to plow through high healing Strategist Ultimates due to its extra hits being delayed. Though its sustain is enough to match and nullify them in some cases like Cloak & Dagger's Eternal Bond.
- Using Bridge Boost to boost the healing from Ragin' Royal Flush can be extremely beneficial depending on how much damage the enemy team is throwing downrange.
Personality
|
Remy LeBeau, commonly known as the mutant thief Gambit, is a Louisiana native whose personality combines suave charm, intrigue, and moral complexity in a way that few other X-Men characters do. At his core, he is a suave, smooth-talking Cajun whose charisma frequently deters both allies and adversaries. He conducts himself with casual composure, employing comedy, flirting, and witty conversation as social tool. He is a charismatic and roguish figure with a strong moral compass that occasionally clashes with his criminal background, but he always fights for what he believes is right. Remy is heavily guarded beneath the surface. His childhood on the streets of New Orleans, as well as his involvement in the Thieves and Assassins Guilds, made him hesitant of disclosing too much about himself. He frequently conceals his fears, regrets, and insecurities beneath a veneer of confidence and mischief. Even when surrounded by friends, he frequently feels like an outsider which someone who operates on moral ambiguity, never certain whether he merits the company he keeps. But Gambit is far from cold. He is fiercely loyal, particularly to those he accepts into his inner circle.
When he commits to someone, whether it's a teammate or a romantic relationship, his loyalty is unbreakable. His connection with Rogue, in particular, demonstrates his emotional depth: he loves passionately, calmly, and without expectation, willing to bear loneliness or heartache in order to give her the space she needs to feel safe. This commitment extends to the X-Men, even when his past undermines the team's faith in him. Gambit's romance with Rogue is one of the most iconic in Marvel history. Their chemistry is undeniable; his flirtatious charm and her guarded sensitivity create a dynamic that is both playful and profoundly emotional. They bring out the best and worst in each other, yet their relationship is built on trust, compassion, and an unwavering sense of longing.
Even when they're apart, their bond feels indestructible, based on a shared knowledge of what it means to live with a rough background. Remy's a gambler, both practically and emotionally, and he believes in taking risks even when they hurt. Anna Marie is cautious, thoughtful, and seeks to minimize harm. She automatically protects others, even at the expense of her own desires. Despite their differences, they share a common emotional core: both have felt like outsiders, are afraid of harming others, and consciously doubt their own worthiness for love. Gambit recognizes Rogue's strength and tenderness, while Rogue sees Gambit's charm and wounded sincerity. They fill each other's voids: he gives her warmth, acceptance, and patience, while she provides him with purpose, trust, and protection to improve and understand each other in a way that few others can. And that's why Remy cares and loves her wife very deeply.
With his interactions with some characters, Gambit and Wolverine share a complicated brother-in-arms dynamic. Logan is initially skeptical of Remy because of Gambit's secrecy and dubious past, which contradict Logan's instincts. However, they eventually develop a reluctant respect. Both men understand what it's like to live with guilt, function in moral ambiguity, and be perceived as dangerous even when their intentions are good. Storm and Gambit have one of the most intimate and meaningful friendships among the X-Men as Gambit once cared for Storm while she was temporarily de-aged, gaining her trust and developing a protective relationship. Even Gambit and Rocket form an unexpectedly funny duo. Their mutual passion of thieving, explosives, and breaking the rules creates instant chemistry. Rocket admires Remy's willingness to get his hands dirty, whereas Gambit finds Rocket's humor and wild energy interesting, if occasionally demanding. He even cares and heals Rocket's wounds with his Chronovium powered cards after a gambling fight in the planet Knowhere recently.
Gambit's moral compass is complex, but not broken. He is a thief by trade, and there is still a part of him that enjoys risk, secrecy, and doing the unthinkable. But he sincerely wants to do good. He fights not only to protect others, but also to show to himself that he is deserving of forgiveness that something he frequently questions. Despite his tragic history, Gambit retains an upbeat, even playful disposition as he approached risk with a reckless grin, as if life were a high-stakes game that he refused to lose. His charisma, daring nature, make him one among the X-Men's most captivating characters: a guy defined not by perfection, but by dedication, passion, and the captivating appeal of someone who is always one step ahead, whether in a battle or a card game.
