Types of Emotes
Group Emotes
Group Emotes were introduced in Season 3.5, where 2 players active the Emote and it has a unique effect involving both characters.
Universal Emotes
Universal Emotes were introduced in Season 4.5, where by unlocking the emote, it becomes available for every hero who is able to use it.
Interactive Emotes
Interactive Emotes were introduced in Season 5.0 to coincide with the release of Times Square. This allows players to join in with other players using an emote (as the same hero) by pressing T /
while looking at a player using an interactive emote. This will sync up the emote animation and it does not require the joining players to own the emote. This feature was retroactively added to some dancing emotes and can be identified by emotes with a
icon in the bottom right corner. See Category:Interactive Emotes for the list of emotes.
Traversal Emotes
Traversal Emotes were introduced in Season 5.5. These emotes allow players to move while using the emote when in Times Square, Practice Range, Doom Match, or Conquest. These emotes can be identified by a
icon in the bottom right corner.
Costume-Locked Emotes
Costume-Locked Emotes are emotes which can only be used while a certain costume is equipped. Typically, due to a model change with the costume, the emote would not work correctly with other costumes. These can be identified by the
icon with the costume name above the Acquire button (or how to obtain the emote if it is not from the store).
Currently, there are only a few Costume-exclusive Emotes. These include:
- Winter Soldier - Clean Slate (exclusive to
Thunderbolts*) - Captain America - Sticky Sidekick (exclusive to
Captain Klyntar) - Storm - Shocking Surge (exclusive to
Symbiote Storm) - Rocket Raccoon - Cozy Chaos (exclusive to
Symbiote Raccoon) - Squirrel Girl - Fun For All (exclusive to
Symbiote Squirrel) - Jeff the Land Shark - Cohesive Cling (exclusive to
Devouring Duo) - The Thing - Dominance Unleashed (exclusive to
Symbiote-Thing) - Venom - In This Together (exclusive to
Reborn King In Black) - Iron Man - Symbiotic Masculinity (exclusive to
Extrembiote Armor)
Accessory Emotes
Accessory Emotes were introduced in Season 7.5, which are emotes which can only be used while a certain Accessory is equipped. These emotes can be identified by a
icon in the bottom right corner.
